Community guidelines

Tell the money story. Leave somebody else’s personal life out of it.

Work is weird enough without turning a short story into a doxxing tool, advert, harassment campaign or popularity bot farm. These are the rules for public content and behaviour on Flex Your Income.

Last updated: 22 September 2026

Adults only

You must be at least 18 years old to publish or manage a money story. Do not create a story for a child or submit an under-18 age value through a modified client.

FYI is 18+ comedy with mature language and content. Swearing, crude humour and non-graphic references to adult anatomy, nudity or consensual adult sexual situations can be part of a money story. Sexual words alone do not make a story unsuitable.

Tell your story, not somebody else’s private story

  • Do not publish another person's private or confidential income or personal information without permission.
  • Do not impersonate a real person or falsely attribute a money claim or story to them.
  • Do not identify employers, colleagues, customers or private people when the story works without identifying them.
  • Do not publish contact details, exact private locations, credentials, identity documents, confidential business information or material that should not be public.

Handles and Anonymous publishing are welcome. The useful part is the money story, not proving that the internet can locate everyone mentioned in it.

No abuse, hate, harassment or sexual exploitation

The story, display name, occupation and other public text must not be used for targeted harassment, threats, hateful or degrading abuse, sexual exploitation, doxxing or attacks on another person or protected group.

Humour can point at workplace absurdity, bureaucracy, your own situation or the site's premise. It cannot turn another person into the punchline by publishing private or abusive material about them.

Sexual content involving minors, assault, coercion, trafficking, exploitation and non-consensual activity are prohibited. So are targeted sexual harassment, private sexual information about other people, explicit erotic or pornographic detail, and using FYI to solicit sexual services. A joke or a payment does not excuse any of these.

A non-graphic story about adult-themed work is not the same as advertising that work through the site. Publication and advertising suitability are separate decisions; an allowed story does not automatically qualify for ads.

No unlawful content or criminal activity

Do not publish unlawful content or use FYI to encourage, solicit, arrange or facilitate crime. Do not provide criminal instructions, offer illegal goods or services, run scams, make threats or share stolen credentials or unlawfully obtained private information. The exploitation and abuse rules above also apply, even when the story is presented as comedy or fiction.

Automated screening can miss violations. A published story must still comply with these guidelines and the Terms, and can be hidden or removed afterward. Report a story that breaks these rules or use Contact and removal.

No links, spam, scams or promotion

  • Do not put URLs, domain-like promotion, email addresses, phone numbers or link-markup attempts into public user-authored text.
  • Do not create repetitive stories to promote a business, product, referral scheme, investment pitch or unrelated service.
  • Do not use public text to run a scam, solicit credentials or direct people to malicious material.
  • Do not automate submissions, reports, votes or management actions to flood the service or manufacture apparent activity.

Automated screening is a safety filter, not a truth machine

New or edited public user-authored text can be screened before publication. The service may ask for a rewrite, block publication or allow the story.

Passing moderation does not mean Flex Your Income verified the amount, job, identity or story. A post can be funny, popular, moderated and still be wrong.

Do not deliberately evade moderation by moving prohibited material between the story, display name and occupation fields, disguising links or contact details, or repeatedly rewriting the same prohibited content.

Votes surface stories; they do not score people

Community voting is a lightweight positive signal that a reader thinks a story is worth surfacing. It is not a vote on whether the claim is true, whether the amount is morally good, or whether the person deserves admiration.

Do not automate votes, rotate browser identity to multiply votes, coordinate artificial voting, or otherwise manufacture Top or Trending placement. Removing and re-adding a vote to unchanged content must not be used to fake fresh momentum.

Material changes to a story, claim or public context can clear its vote history because readers voted on the content they actually saw. Hiding or unpublishing unchanged content can preserve history, but moderation and publication state always override popularity.

There are no comments, replies, quote-post text, free-text reactions or direct messages. Do not try to turn other fields into substitutes for them.

Keep each amount in its original context

Per-year, hourly, daily, per-gig and one-off stories all belong to the same money-story product. The site does not silently annualise unlike pay to manufacture a comparison.

Community popularity is separate from the money amount and from whether a claim is credible or safe to publish.

Reports and moderation

Use the Report action on a public story for impersonation, privacy, harassment, spam or other guideline problems. Do not file reports merely because somebody earns more money than seems emotionally convenient.

Reports can contribute to another automated assessment of the current public content. Multiple reports against the same unchanged revision may be combined rather than causing one external scan each. Report details themselves are not used as external classifier input.

The service can reject publication, hide or remove content. Exceptional cases can receive human review. A manual restore does not imply verification.

Do not attack the service

Do not probe or exploit the site in a way intended to bypass security, rate limits, owner controls, automated moderation, voting controls or report handling. Responsible security reports can be sent through Contact and removal.

Removal and questions

If the story is yours, the private management link is the fastest way to edit, unpublish or permanently delete it. For a privacy or removal issue you cannot resolve that way, see Contact and removal or email privacy@flexyourincome.com.
