The email outage was an expired credit card problem

Business couldn't send emails and everyone assumed the mail server had failed. Their domain had expired. Nobody wanted to admit whose credit card used to pay for it, so I spent twenty minutes fixing the problem and considerably longer standing nearby while the ownership history was reconstructed.
